Featuring: Our Saturday Ā for anyone who needs a laugh.

Walker was bitten by a squirrel.

I lie not.

Boone has been on a squirrel killing spree. (Honestly, we are all quite proud of his abilities! But, I digress…)

Boone had a secret fresh kill he had not finished off in the corner of the yard when small fry wandered out and tried to play with it... And, of course, got a bloody bite from the little ookie diseased looking barely alive thing.

We were told Walker needed a tetanus shot and an antibiotic. Childhood bites are certainly a thing, but everybody got a kick out of the squirrel aspect.

Ā

We learned the only place who will give a child a Saturday tetanus shot is the ER.

Without dogging on anyone In particular, we went to ER 1 at about 1:45. ā€œCummins? Squirrel Bite?ā€ Yes, hillbillies are here!

At 4:30, they gave us a fresh bandaid and neosporin and told us they didn’t have the right tetanus for a 3 YO in the building. A v long awaited and expensive bandaid, indeed. A bandaid we will ask not to pay for. We have a lot of cheap bandaids.

Meanwhile, animal control doesn’t work on Saturdays. (So, everyone, don’t get bit by a dog on a Saturday.)

I digress.

A kind police officer showed up suddenly at ER 1 and asked if we wanted to file a report. We said no. Who is in trouble, the dead squirrel? We just want to make sure it doesn’t have rabies. ā€œCall animal control on Monday I guess?ā€

Anyway, we finally learned via a doctor at ER 1 that we needed to take the squirrel to a 24/7 lab in Stillwater to confirm it did not have rabies. So, Daniel headed home to bag up the squirrel to protect it from English Setters before its pending evaluation. ā€œ90% chance it doesn’t have rabies.ā€ We decided if it’s a 10% chance at rabies, that’s high as far as rabies goes…

So, from 4:30-6, we perused pharmacies, nobody had the tetanus shot. We called two of our smart pharmacist friends for guidance. As I am a chewy mom (not 100% crunchy, but I dabble , W is not fully vaccinated). Finally, we got to ER 2.

ER 2 rushed us back because I was so very fatigued and grouchy from our day. ER 2 talked and listened and laughed and helped us. ER 2 told us lots of great information and got us our needed shot fast AND a popsicle! Whew.

While at ER 2, our hero, Pop / RobFather, called and asked for the squirrel’s current location. He delivered the dead squirrel Ā to Stillwater for us.

Boy mom life.

We are home. I have poured wine.

The language for this blurb is totally inspired by my current favorite book series: Emma M. Lion. If you haven't read it, I 100% recommend.

Are We Doing Too Much?

One of my biggest concerns in the digital marketing world mirrors what so many of us are feeling in society as a whole: we’re overly connected, flooded with information, and doing too much. Are we say
